WHAT WE BELIEVE
Garage Church attempts at all points to hold fast to sound doctrine as presented within the pages of scripture and taught through the centuries by the Church. For guidance in interpretation and application we look to the creeds and confessions, preeminent among them the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and various historical confessions of faith.
Below you will see a brief summary of possible answers to some specific questions:
-
We believe the Bible is God’s Word. It was inspired by Him and contains no errors. It’s the only completely reliable source for knowing how to be saved, what to believe, and how to live. The Bible is made up of 66 books—both Old and New Testaments—and is the final authority for all truth. Nothing should be added to it, and everything we believe should be measured against it.
-
We believe there is one true, living God who is perfect and infinite. He is spirit, not made of flesh or matter, and He never changes. He knows everything, has all power, and is in complete control over everything. God exists forever in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. They are equally God, equally glorious, but have different roles.
We believe Jesus is fully God. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life without sin, died on the cross to take the punishment for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, went up to heaven, and will return one day.
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God. He was sent by the Father and the Son to make people aware of their sin, give them new spiritual life, and live within those who believe. He helps believers grow in holiness, understand truth, and gives spiritual gifts and fruit to build up the Church.
-
We believe that we are saved by God's grace, through faith in Jesus Christ alone—not by our own efforts. Salvation includes being called by God, made spiritually alive, declared right with God, adopted into His family, made more like Jesus, and one day made perfect in heaven. Those whom God saves will stay faithful until the end.

The Church is made up of everyone who truly trusts in Jesus. Local churches are where believers gather to worship, learn God's Word, take part in baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and help each other grow in faith. The Church is called to stay faithful to God’s truth and to spread the good news about Jesus to the world.
“This is not issued as an authoritative rule, or code of faith, whereby ye are to be fettered, but as an assistance to you in controversy, a confirmation in faith, and the means of edification and righteousness. Here the younger members of our church will have a body of divinity in small compass, and by means of the scriptural proofs, will be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in them.”
